what's up with the nuts?

I thought the neighbors dogs got loose yesterday when actually it was a couple doe's crossing the front yard out by the street. They've been out front the past few days because of the hickory tree. There isn't an acorn to be found this year. Last year was a major bumper crop. This year nothing. The squirrels looked panicked.

An offer to consign my hummigbird feeders was made yesterday by Wild Birds Unlimited. They had already purchase their christmas items and could only offer consignment at this time. I'm okay with that. It's an opportunity for exposure.

In the meantime I will be working on my new website for jewelry and the HBF's. It's amazing how long it take to
whip one off with all the cha-chas that you need. In the mean time this site will have to do. I still have the photos to upload. Hope to get it done today.

Dinner last night: Lasagna Bolognese from Cook's Illustrated

Hello? It took forever! This reduced 6 hour recipe took 2.5 hours. But....It was amazing! I think my husband is getting me this magazine for my birthday. Is this anything like getting a sweeper?

Hallows

This was Doug's idea of a halloween costume. It went well with the old movies theme. Elaine had old movies playing on a curtain that divided the room into two seating areas. skulls, candles, and white coverings. Very cool.

Tom and I had great fun playing the androgynous zoombies.

~A huge Soccer gathering here yesterday afternoon. 30+ people. Potluck style. It was quick and easy. I was grateful.
~Making new hummingbird feeders. Wild Bird Unlimited wants to see one. pictures later.

*The bumper sticker I've seen this week:

Went to see WICKED with

my daughers eight grade classs. We took a Cardnial Crusier bus to the Rainforest Cafe and then off to the Ford Center of Performing Arts. I love Chicago.
The stage , props, costumes and acting were all so moving. I was overwhelmed with emotions. A must see!

It's raining leaves here today. I'm not too excited about getting them all up before the first snow, which sounds like it will be this friday, YUCK!
Yesterday was my daughters 14th birthday. My husband and I went out on a date Saturday night and we just kept saying "we had a baby 14 years ago!!" ....... and silence.

When the weather is inclimate, I spend my time at my bench trying something new from a book I bought a few months back. It is a luxury to have the time to play.

Painter's Palette' (Persicaria virginiana)

The many great gardens of the world, of literature and poetry, of painting and music,
of religion and architecture, all make the point as clear as possible: The soul cannot
thrive in the absence of a garden. If you don't want paradise, you are not human;
and if you are not human, you don't have a soul.
