Went on a field trip last friday with Amy's class to The ~Trail of Courage It was the best field trip I have ever been on. So good that we went back down there on Sunday as a family. Great weather!!!

It is raining acorns here this week. You could practically rollerskate in our yard with the amount of acorns that have fallen. And so I thought the leaves were going to be the problem! The deer family continues to visit until Mackinaw spots them and chases them off. I was only able to see the buck once but he lurk in the back woods, keeping a watchful eye on his fawns.

Our weekly routine hasn't quite settled in yet due to hoildays, teacher days, changes in dance class times and the days for those classes. I am leaving for our yearly chick weekend on thursday, leaving my husband in charge of all the routines. The week following this coming weekend is always such a panic with Kelsey's birthday weekend fast apporaching. Making sure I have all the bases covered . Trying to plan ahead so there isn't that big paniced rush. Trying very hard not to spend unnecessary funds. Maybe her friends like soup and grilled cheese?

I recieved a phone call last night from one of Kelsey's teachers. She found out that I make jewlery and wanted to know if I would be willing to make her a necklace to go with a dress she is wearing for a wedding in three weeks? How cool is that?! Okay. now I'm nervous and very excited. I have several ideas running through my head already due to the description of the dress. She wants the piece to be noticable and sophisticated . WOW. can I do it?

Peace Lily - Spathiphyllum Gioant

The cool weather is here!!!! Here we come Chick weekend!!!

How many years has it been ladies? I'm counting this as our sixth year. Am I right?

From the Inn with it's metal doors slamming at 4am to the smells of a cozy cabin tucked away in the woods.
Seeing Amy on a horse with her tiny legs sticking straight out from her side.
Kim and Cindy snoring. Annie smacking her head on the bunkbed frame to gently wake Kim from her snoring fit, shocking the whole cabin awake.............I still laugh about that!!!!!ROFL!

Pumpkin in the vines

Pumpkin in the vines
Originally uploaded by merelyhere.
While riding our bike last night, Amy and I came across this sweet little house with a small garden in the back. Along the side of the road was a row of Honeysuckle so thick that it hedged itself. Conveniently located next to the garden is a pumpkin vine that decides to venture to the higher grounds of the Honeysuckle. Nestled three feet off the ground in plain view of anyone who drives by, or in our case rides by on bike, can see this bright pumpkin cushioned there. I had to turn around and see again with my own eyes this floating gourd. What a find!

Dry dropping tree leaves and roasted nuts

Trying in some defeatist way to moisten this very dry earth. Crunching along the lawn to move the sprinkler again, I was thinking how the nuts that have fallen already, must be nicely roasted and great to snack on. The squirrels are trying in vain to dig holes to put their tasty stash in.

This morning I am wating for the doe and three fawns that have been regulars in the back yard with hopes of taking a good photo without window screen interuptions. The last time we had this many dear in our yard was the year we moved in. I believe that would be eleven years this November. The year of the nuts, the doe with four fawns and an eight point buck going down Glendale. I think the construction on 933 was a big help in keeping or providing passage for the herd to the east side.

Last night was a beautiful night for a bike ride. One that we took with the intentions of Dairy Queen being our end goal. Next was movies in the treehouse to finish off our weekly girls night. The acorns hitting that metal roof scared the crap out of me!!!

This morning is the farmers market with Laureen and Cheryl. A weekly we've established this year with or without purchases. A bagel is always in the picture along with great conversations. apparently my lack of having an answering machine had forced THEM to e-mail me the time of pick up this morning and accused me of thinking them as Riff-Raff. mmmmmmm?

Chick weekend is coming up fast now. WAHOO! It amazes me how different every year is. Who is coming and who can't make it. The selfish need to have all of us together for just a few days, completely, hour after hour, no interuptions (kids, husbands, home & life).
Beautiful women having babies, husbands with bad backs, older kids off to college soon , sport activities that consume just about every weekend in the fall, loved ones passing away, new homes to move in to, all testing our ability to move with the change of life. Being flexable with patiences and love. We do have a lifetime.

OBEDIENT PLANT

OBEDIENT PLANT

A cool sweet air is coming through my front door as I sit at the computer.
Not too often do we get a breeze from the east, so I will relish in it.
The heat has returned this week. The girls school doesn't have air conditioning, so we won't be putting ours in when the tempretures reach in the high 80 and early 90's. As long as it get below 68 degrees at night it will be tolerable. The logic is not to have the girls get so use to air, that being at school is difficult because of the heat.
The dryness is severe again. I cannot water enough. I am about to give up on watering and let my nature go into hybernation. I don't particularly like dry Falls. Althought I hear the leaf colors are magnificent. But still, I like my surrounding moist and smelling of fresh decay with water in the creeks and rivers.

I was up at 4am this moring. a bi-monthly activitiy for me. Plus I have been getting up at 3:20am to pick Tom up at work . We are down to one car. So Tuesday and Wednesday nights I take Tom to work so I can take the girls to dance. With the gas prices the way they are, I think we'll try and stay that way as long as we can. Our only worry is that we have two very well used vehicles and if the one that is working goes, were screwed. Hopfully we won't get ourselves into that situation.
Tom's hours have been cut back due to the increase in the gas prices. Routes have been shorten to conserve gas. Money. So needless to say 'money' was the topic of conversation at 4:36am this morning . This particular topic doesn't exaclty promote sleep in Tom. We have a debt, who doesn't? But this is the break down:

1) There isn't anything extra.
2) And if we have needs coming up, we should
have the money saved up already for that.
3) No gray areas..... apparently, I am good at this.

So, in the meantime,
~the dog needs his yearly's @ $220.00
~I need my Gyno~$200.00+
~The chick weekend~ more $ + my sanity
~Eye appointment saturday for the whole family.
~The fridge could go anyday now.
~So could the car.

"Yeah it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the lord every night
For just another day in paradise"
